With our 2009 Earth Day celebration we began stepping up our efforts to be as green as we can be for the parrots.

Some of the things we do to help recycle and be green are to use recycled extra clean boxes for shipping your order in. You may receive a box which is imprinted with another company name sometimes if we found it to be the best size and clean and sturdy for shipping.

Whenever we receive new updated catalogs from manufacturers and distributors the old ones go straight to our recycle bin for shredding. It's also amazing how much junk mail a business receives too and these all go into the that shredding bin. Finely shredded paper makes some great packing material for many items that are not easily broken.

We also do many other things at the store to help reduce energy usage and yet maintain a comfortable environment for humans and of course the birds.

We also donate yearly to selected groups such as the Nature Conservancy who is helping worldwide to save our Rain Forests and the parrots in them.

We hope to continue each year also celebrating Earth Day locally to help bring awareness to our environment and how each of us can do our part to help. Everyone who participates really enjoys meeting all the store parrots up close and personal and having their pictures made with them. The children especially enjoy the coloring pages with the parrots they meet, as well as free rainforest pencils and parrot picks we hand out.
