How to Place an Order:

You can order on our site by placing items you wish to order into the shopping basket and proceed to our secure checkout. The checkout will automaticlaly calculate shipping or discounts for you.
Order by Phone
You can also place your order over the phone by calling our store at 256-341-0484 Tuesday through Friday between 10:00 and 5:00 central time. Shipping fees on phone orders cannot be calculated until your order has been entered into our order system so if you need to know your shipping when you place your order, please place your order online through our site.

How to calculate your shipping:
Shipping fees are based on the weight of your order, and the zip code to which your order is being shipped. To find out the shipping fees on the items you would like to order simply place the items in the shopping basket and proceed to the checkout. Enter your shipping information and choose the method of shipping from the drop down shipping box and continue to the next page. The shipping calculator will show you the shipping on your order. You may also use your browser's back button to go back and choose a different method of shipping if you would like to compare the shipping fees. You do not need to enter any credit card information to view the shipping costs.

If you entered your shipping address incorrectly and need to change it, please email us at info@naturechest.com immediately, so that we can chage the address for you before your order is shipped out. If your order has already been shipped and you discover your address was entered wrong, please email us immediately so that we can try and have UPS reroute the package to the correct address. NOTE: UPS does charge a correction fee of $10 and you wil be responsible for paying that fee.

We currently ship Tuesday through Friday and offer several shipping methods. Inside the U.S. UPS Ground shipping usually arrives within 2-5 business days after an order is shipped excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Although we do not require a signature on most smaller orders, your UPS Driver may require one depending on the area being shipped to. Your order may be shipped to your place of work so someone can sign for the package rather than a home address if you prefer. NOTE: Orders over $100 are shipped UPS to the billing address only on file with the credit card company and may require a signature at time of delivery unless preapproved by us. We also offer UPS Express Delivery, which usually arrives 2-3 days from the date your order is shipped, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. UPS Next Day Air is available usually during the holiday season but may not be available all year long. Next Day Air delivery does not include Saturday, Sunday, or holiday delivery. NOTE: choosing an expedited shipment method will not reduce a product's availability time, it may still be 2-3 business days before your order is shipped. If you need your order as soon as possible, please call our bird store at 256-341-0484 to find out if your order can ship in less than 2-3 business days. We also offer Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation on orders under $100. Please note we ship Priority Mail orders on Wednesdays and Fridays only. Priority Mail should not be considered an expedited method of shipping. All orders above $100 are usually shipped only by UPS and may require a signature for delivery.

Deliveries to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rica, and U.S. Virgin Islands may require 1-2 additional days in shipping. Orders being shipped to APO addresses may take from 1 to 8 weeks to arrive depending on the country to be shipped to.

International orders are shipped via Global Express, Global Priority, Insured Airmail, or UPS WorldWide and are shipped out once a week. Choice of shipping carrier on international orders is at our discretion and is based on the value and weight of the order placed. If you are placing an order inside the U.S., and your order does not show a shipping fee, an error has occurred and shipping will be added to your order before it is shipped. Some International orders may not show a shipping fee initially as each order is different and must be calculated depending on the country the order is shipping to, the weight of the order, and the size of the packaging. If no shipping fees are shown on your order, we will email you with any shipping fees over $20 prior to shipping.

If you choose an invalid shipping method not available to your address even though you receive an error message at checkout, the shipping on your order will be changed to the least expensive shipping method that is available for your order and any additional shipping fees necessary will be added to your order before it is processed.

Do you ship outside the USA?
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

Yes, we do ship to a select group of countries outside the USA. Please see our
International Ordering Information page for a list of courties we currently ship to.

All international customers must pay by credit card. We do not accept wire transfers at this time. All international orders must have the same ship to and bill to address entered on their order that is on file with the credit card issuer. International orders cannot be shipped to a different address. Any order placed with an international credit card is considered an international order. Any order placed from outside the United States is considered an International Order, with the exception of U.S. Military Personnel.

International orders may be subject to import duties and taxes. Please see our International Ordering Information page for more details.

Can I pay for my order with a check?
What other types of payments do you accept?

We accept American Express, Diner's Club, Discover, JCB, MasterCard and Visa credit cards. We no longer accept personal checks, money orders or cashiers checks. We do not accept PayPal currently.

What if I need to return something?

Certain merchandise may be returned within fifteen (15) days of receipt. All returned merchandise must be in the original container or carton as well as in the original new condition for a full credit or refund of the product cost. Items returned after 15 days, or items returned without prior approval by us for return, are subject to a 20% restocking fee. No returns are accepted after 30 days. Shipping fees are NOT refundable. Please contact us for instructions on the return of products before returning them.

If your order is received in a damaged condition, please contact us immediately so we may contact the shipper who will investigate the damage. Failure to contact us within 5 business days after receiving the damaged merchandise may result us being unable to replace the damaged item, or issue a credit for damaged items, as the shipping carrier may not accept any claim not made in a timely manner.

How long will it take to receive my order?

For U.S. Orders: Unless an item you order is out of stock, most U.S. orders are usually shipped within 2-3 business days after your order is received, with the exception of the hand-made bird cage skirts which ship in 7-10 business days after we receive your order. If something you order is out of stock, but we expect to have it within a few days, your order may be held until we have everything in stock and then shipped. Although most order ships within 2-3 business days, we do not guarantee it. 'Busness days' does not include Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, or holidays. If you need something quickly, please call our store at 256-341-0484 to see how if we have all your items in stock and can ship your order immediately for you.

We ship Tuesday through Friday only and offer UPS Express and UPS Ground. Transit time does not include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). We also offer Priority Mail Alaska, Hiwaii, Puerto Rico, and APO addresses. Priority Mail is not considered express shipping as we only ship Priority Mail twice a week. NOTE: choosing an expedited UPS shipping method will not reduce a product's availability time, it may still be 2-3 business days before your order is shipped.

If your billing address and your shipping address are not the same, we may contact you by email or by phone to verify your order, which can delay your order going out. Please be sure when you place your order that you give a valid email address where you can receive any emails concerning your order.

ABOUT THE NATURE CHEST BIRD SHOP

We have been keeping and breeding birds since 1984 and opened The Nature Chest Bird Shop in 1996. All of our babies are hand fed with lots of TLC, abundantly weaned, fledged and vet checked. If you are in the North Alabama area we would love for you to come by and visit with us. We do not ship any of our birds at this time.

We also do gentle bird grooming and run a "Birdie Camp" for the birds we sell who may need to be boarded during vacation times or holidays. If you did not purchase your bird from us and would like to board your bird with us, we require a health certificate by an avian veterinarian within 30 days prior to boarding time. All boarding is done by reservation only so be sure to contact us early to make "camp" arrangements.

We also operate a bird safe haven, "Nature's Nest", for abused or unwanted birds as well as birds who just need a new home due to various reasons. Birds we take in are referred to us by our local avian veterinarians, local animal shelter, or other local rescue groups. Birds are veterinarian checked and whenever possible, placed into new homes. Unfortunately many birds we take in have been physically or mentally abused and are often no longer considered by many as acceptable "pets". Some may have permanent health/disability problems or serious behavior issues. Birds such as these are kept in a permanent safe home with us. Although the birds we have taken in are not for sale through our store, there is an adoption fee to help cover the cost of veterinary care for the birds looking for new homes through adoption. If you are interested in adopting a bird in need and would like to be put on our waiting list, please contact us for further information. Please note however, our adoption questionnaire is very detailed and precise in information necessary to meet our criteria for adoption. To be added to our waiting list you must live within 30 minutes driving distance of our facility because home inspections are required. Come in and meet some of the birds who have come to us at "Nature's Nest".

Our exotic bird store is a fully stocked bird store with many items not available on our web site. If you are looking for something in particular, or have a special need, please let us know as we may have it available in our store or may be able to special order it for you. The Nature Chest Bird Shop will not be held responsible for any pricing erros due to typographical erros contained anywhere on our site. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of information found on our site, as well as the pricing of all of our products. All prices are subject to change.

After placing your order with The Nature Chest Bird Shop you will receive an automated confirmation email. The receipt of the order confirmation email does not guarantee acceptance of your order by us. The automated order confirmation email you receive only confirms that our system has received your order. The Nature Chest Bird Shop reserves the right to correct any order errors or to limit the order quantity for any item. Items not in stock are not backordered. Items will need to be reordered when available. The Nature Chest Bird Shop reserves the right to refuse to fulfil an order to a customer if we suspect fraud, failure to provide a valid email address or other contact information, incorrect billing information, or other information necessary to process your order, or for any reason we deem valid for cancellation at our discretion. We may request verification of credit card information or other important information, prior to the acceptance of any order. All orders over $100 will be shipped UPS only to the billing address on file with the credit card company and may require a signature at time of delivery.
