Insect & Pest Control |
| Parrot food manufacturers have to be very careful to choose grains and seeds with no pesticides when they manufacture their products to be the safest food possible. By doing so, it is just natural to sometimes have seed moths or seed and grain weevils hatch out, especially during the hot summer months. Even processed foods such as parrot pellets can still have the occasional moth hatching. In fact seed and grain moths can even sneak into your home by way of the foods you buy at your local grocery store as well especially from foods such as flour and cornmeal products. However there is not a lot you can do to prevent those annoying fruit flies that enjoy your bird's fresh fruits and vegetables especially during the summer months other than a good fruit fly trap. Even if you empty your bird's dishes daily, fruit flies often come in on fruits and vegetables we buy at the grocery store. Freezing your bird's seed and pellets can often help keep those pesky pests at a minimum. Freeze for at least 48 hours to get most moth larvae. Those seed and grain weevils can be harder to control so freezing for 48 hours, removing from the freezer for about 48 hours, and then refreezing for an additional 48 hours will help kill the weevils that withstand the first freeze. Our pest control products will be a great help in controlling the critters not so welcome into our bird worlds.
