Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA), The Lousiana Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA), the Louisiana Animal Control Association (LACA), and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) are managing animal evacuations and recovery plans for New Orleans pets and displaced animals.

Mutt Shack Foundation - A rescue effort is under way with students at LSU, the LA/SPCA and the ASPCA SD in Baton Rouge to collect animals and bringing them into a staging center at the the LSU AgCenter/Parker Coliseum

AKC CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund Hurricane Katrina Relief - a donation to the AKC CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund is 100% used to assist animal victims of natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina. AKC CAR does not retain any portion for administrative purposes.

The Salvation Army is having a tremendous effect on the help for the Gulf Coast area victims.

Serve Alabama has been set up to not only help the victums of Alabama's communities, but all peoples of the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Katrina.
